Doornbos Lands Red Bull Drivers Seat - WTF!?

According to f1racing.net Robert Doornbos will replace Christian Klein at Red Bull for the rest of the season. Muermans, Doornbos’ sponsor, has paid 15 million Euros in sponsorship to secure the seat. They previously paid 8 million Euros for him to be the Red Bull test driver.

If these reports are true, it’s a real shame. While Christian Klein is essentially a pay driver too, he’s shown a lot of potential. Maybe not as much as Nikki Lauda, but definitely enough to justify his place in Formula One.

Meanwhile over at Super Aguri it is believed the long-term replacement for Yuji Ide will be another Japanese driver. Franck Montagny is filling the race seat for the next few rounds but it is well known that Super Aguri is a very Japanese-focused team.
