What’s Scott Speed up to these days? Anyway, when he was in F1 I always thought he looked (and acted) a bit like Seann William Scott famous from the American Pie movies among others (I have to admit, I quite like his movies apart from American Pie 3). Oh, and that’s not a typo, it is Seann with 2 n’s, not Sean William Scott as I first thought… Â Hmmm… Seann-Scott….

Schumacher Taxi – Suckers

Earlier we called out the Schumacher taxi story as smelling a bit fishy. Media agencies around the world took the bait and now here’s the hook – Tuncer Yilmaz, owner and driverÂ of the taxi, wants to sell the taxi (last bid was apparently 63,000 Euros!). His reason is supposedly to pay for any legal costs that might happen due to the police investigating Schumacher over the incident. How convenient…

The worst part is not that he’s trying to capitalize on the situation… well, actually that does suck b*lls, but what’s with these idiots who bid for items like this? Bidding for this stuff just makes more scammers come out of the woodwork. I guess some people would need a van to go pick up their slices of Virgin Mary toast though…

Testing: Schumacher vs Hakkinen?

There have been a lot of rumours that Michael Schumacher has secretly tested the 2007 Ferrari F1 car recently. Whether they’re true or not we don’t know, but it would be great if Ferrari and McLaren could arrange a shoot-out for the fans during one of their test sessions this year.

With the Ferrari and McLaren cars being fairly equal this year, what better time to bring back their past World Champions Michael Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen respectively! Have a shoot-out for top spot on the timesheets

Of course, with the F1 title battle being so intense, such a test would probably have to happen after the World Championships are already decided… but one can dream

McLaren Radio Hacked

After a relatively boring Monaco Grand Prix, the biggest news this week is that the FIA are investigating claims that McLaren ‘fixed’ the race result in Monte Carlo. I normally wouldn’t give such a nonsense story the time of day, but Ron Dennis let one gem slip that I’d never heard reported before.

If you read what Ron said, it seems as though someone hacked into the McLaren radio during the 1998 Australia Grand Prix and falsely instructed Mika Hakkinen to enter the pits when he didn’t need to. To quote Ron:

Team strategy is what you bring to bear to win a Grand Prix. Team orders is what you bring to bear to manipulate a Grand Prix. And we do not, and have not, manipulated Grands Prix, unless there were some exceptional circumstances, which occurred, for example, in Australia (1998), when at that time someone had tapped into our radio and instructed Mika Hakkinen to enter the pits.

At the time I only ever saw it reported that Mika was called into the pits accidentally by the team, not by an outsider ‘tapping’ into their radio! I wonder who was responsible? A competitor? Or maybe a disgruntled fan?

I don’t know why, but since Juan Pablo Montoya had his first NASCAR victory we’ve had hundreds and hundreds of people hit the site searching for “connie montoya” (and hardly anyone getting here looking for Juan Pablo.. does that say anything!? )

Ok, so we’re not your normal F1 news source, but the interest in Connie Montoya is crazy.. Not because she’s not a fine fine woman, but because it’s so sudden. Was there something reported in the United States that the rest of the world missed out on regarding Mrs Montoya??

Not even Johanna Martinez (Mrs Villeneuve) or Raquel del Rosario (possibly already Mrs Alonso) can come close to the popularity of Connie..

Schumacher Instead of Brawn in 2008?

Could it be that Michael Schumacher is planning on returning to Ferrari in a role similar to that of Ross Brawn? German magazine Auto Motor und Sport has apparently reported that the ex-Ferrari driver has had allÂ the test data sent to him each day this year.

Meanwhile ITV have reported that Schumacher has been offered a NASCAR test by team owner Ray Evernham. I don’t think there is much Ray could do to entice Schumacher to the NASCAR scene, but the first part of his quote was gold:

“I’ll put him in a red car, a real good car…”
