McLaren Exhaust – Problems?

I know everything doesn’t have to be symmetrical on a car, but during the British Grand Prix I noticed how completely different the 2 sides of McLaren’s exhaust were.

Now there’s nothing wrong with trying new things and setting up a car to be baised for a particular direction, but I think McLaren needs to get to basics with their car. The 2 different exhaust exits are symbolic of their problems. Forget the fancy stuff – just keep the car simple and work on making it fast.

So That’s What HANS is for!

I only noticed it during the Monaco Grand Prix, but has anyone else noticed how tight Felipe Massa has to make his caps to fit his small head? Seems it wasn’t just at Monaco he has his cap ridiculously tight!

To be fair though, I think the Bridgestone caps have a part where you feed the adjustment back in neatly. Just seems Felipe can’t be bothered..

We thought the fact that Britney Spears drives a McLaren Mercedese SLR was good, but while doing some research on McLaren today we came across photos of Paris Hilton in her own McLaren Mercedes! And we know how much you, the viewing public, loves Paris Hilton!

Come on Paris.. If you’re going to get an SLRÂ McLaren Mercedes, the least you can do is get a silver one!! It looks crap in black! You know, Silver Arrows and all (though not the Tom Walkinshaw / Footwork type Arrows thankfully )..

Apparently Paris traded her Bentley Continental GT in to get the McLaren Mercedes. At least she moved up in the world I guess! (that Bentley is an ugly POS)Â :)

A Spanish pastry chef from Ibi in the Alicante province has created a chocolate McLaren Mercedes MP4/22 powered by cocoa (jokes ). It weighs 120 kilograms and is 220 cm long and is intended to be aÂ tribute to dual world champion Fernando Alonso (or a publicity stunt if you ask me ).

Now I don’t know much about chocolate (other than how to send it to my stomach at 320 kph), but if you ask me this is a rather crappy effort. First of all it’s so square that it looks more like a Minardi F1 car from a few years back. And what’s with those triangular sidepods and those bulges on the front wing end plates?

In reality this has nothing on the McLaren F1 ice car.. although it would taste better than the ice…Â :)

This screen capture shows just how close Alexander Wurz was to being seriously injured in Sunday’s Melbourne Grand Prix:

For a man over 6 feet tall, Wurz was extremely lucky Coulthard’s Red Bull Racing vehicle didn’t come into contact with his helmet. We wish Alexander a safer return to racing for the rest of the year.

I really think the F1 teams can do better when it comes to designing their driver racing suits..

Not even McLaren pass the test this year (and they are the team when it comes to style). Their car looks great, but their uniforms have been shocking ever since that ugly pinky-red gradient shirt last year..

Seriously guys, inject some colour into the field! And no, I don’t mean red.. that’s used almost as much as white…
