Ide Finally Booted

Takuma Sato will need to be at his best during this weekends European Grand Prix. Sato’s teammate so far this season, Yuji Ide, is to be replaced by ex-Renault and ex-Jordan test driver Franck Montagny. So far Takuma has had no problem beating his teammate but now he has a very formidable partner.

The move to take the race drive away from Ide was expected. It was well overdue. Ide’s poor performances are party due to the fact that he hasn’t tested much in F1. Part is due to the fact that Super Aguri are using a vehicle designed around the same time Fred Flinstone got his rolls. But really, what drives Yuji? Does he have the self-belief needed to succeed in F1? I mean, the guy spent seven (yes, 7!) seasons in Japanese Formula 3.

Anyway, good on him. Not many people make it to race F1 so Yuji, well done (seriously). :)

It will be interesting to see what Super Aguri Honda can do once their new car arrives. Sato can certainly be quick and it will be interesting to see how Franck goes.
