Melbourne: Heikki to Retire?

The first race of the season has been run, and once again we have the main points of interest for you…

Heikki Kovalainen - After his performance at the Melbourne GP, there are rumours he is set to retire from F1 to start his own lawn mowing business.. ;)

Kimi Raikkonen - Brilliant performance. One slight driving error but otherwise fantastically fast.

Lewis Hamilton - Really nice to see a driver so happy on the podium and in the post-race press conference. Possibly the drive of the day.

Fernando Alonso - Worked his magic once again to get ahead of his teammate and finish in 2nd. Can’t decide whether Fernando, Lewis or Kimi deserves man of the race as they all were super! :)

Nico Rosberg - There has been so little talk about Nico this year that I forgot he was in F1… then bam! 7th place! Well done :)

Nick Heidfeld - Similar story to Nico here.. Made a great start to the race then never heard a peep from him… and bam! 4th place! B)

Felipe Massa - Really should have got past Fisichella.. maybe even Heidfeld. How many times have we seen Raikkonen or Alonso start and the back and make it to the podium?

Jenson Button - WTF?

Honda - WTF?

David Coulthard - No longer has Michael Schumacher to run into so took it out on Alexander Wurz.. ;)

  1. Massa was AMAZING! Starting off from the LAST of the pack and then picking everyone out one by one! I’m sure Villeneuve was pissing in his pants when he found out Massa was trailing him! Well done!

  2. Villeneuve? :) If you mean Fisi, then yes, I’m sure he was worried.. but he’s had plenty of practice at holding up Ferrari’s in the last few years.. ;)

  3. Fisi is an exc driver and he will be definitely eyeing the top3 this season…

  4. Fisi an excellent driver ??? Sorry, don’t see that. He comes off as an arrogant nasty little man who seems like he can only be bothered to try about half of the time!

  5. Briatore was too harsh towards Kovalainen: he’s a rookie and I’m sure he’ll improve his performances in short!

  6. Cassie: Giancarlo was great when he was younger, but he really missed the boat didn’t he? We see him in a similar situation to Barrichello often - the team has to get on the radio all the time to tell them to push harder..

Gigi: Don’t get me wrong - I really hope Kovalainen becomes a star.. he’s just made a terrible start that gives me a lot of doubt now. It looks like he was pushing too hard because the car was too slow.. but if he had remained calm he could have at least salvaged some points. Even Fisi managed too :)

Fisi is not that good a driver….
even when he had the same car as the world Champion Alonso he was still no where in sight of Alonso on the points table…

Fisi might have 1 or 2 great drives every year but hes too inconnsistant to b a real contender over a full season….
plus he sumtimes has problems even finding his grid spot ;)

  8. Hamilton put down a marker on Alonso that the Spaniard will have picked up on. Hamilton’s pace over the weekend and move into the first corner really will have shown Fernando that twice world champ or not, Hamilton wil be pushing him hard this season. What a great debut.

In fact, perhaps it could even have been a little bit better :-

  9. Anchorman - That quote on your site is made up right (as a joke)? Just had to check.. ;)
